Leanne Marshall Debuts a Dreamy Collection of Separates and Gowns for Spring Summer 2017 By: Neilson Barnard, New York, NY

Known for gorgeous silk organza and fluid movement, Leanne Marshall’s Spring Summer 2017 collection sent guests on magical journey full of pastel hued gowns and separates. The stark white runway shimmered with intricate beading, watercolor prints, plunging necklines and her signature flowing silks. The designer showed a collection of easy yet elegant separates that offered a fresh twist to her signature style interlaced with flowing gowns and dresses.

The designer, Leanne Marshall, indicated that she drew inspiration from gemstones and the power they carry. Leanne’s pieces, like healing crystals, were formed to shift a woman’s energy in an ever-so-effortless way to exude light, love and positivity.

The designer introduced accessories to the runway for the first time featuring beautiful handmade headpieces. Several of the ready-to-wear pieces will be available straight from the runway in the next few days. New York City Ballet dancer, Miriam Miller walked in the show to celebrate of the power and strength of women.

The show opened with a quiet whimsical fog trickling onto the runway. A series of sky blue gowns enhanced the waistline with unique features like a shear panel or gathered chiffon tie belt. Taking an unexpected route, this season’s collection introduced textured fabrics in oversized tops and palazzo trousers. A scheme of separates continued with a flowing amethyst maxi skirt and layered pieces. Bronzy peach tones complimented the mauve hue gracefully entering the dreamy realm through sashes, watercolor prints and drapery. Sheer neutrals and effortless prints conveyed earthy naturalness in the palette, and twisted accents provided texture and depth. Complimenting the motif, gemstone tints in opulent sky blue, amethyst and sunset orange arrived within the collection in show-stopping forms. The finale was a pastel hued rainbow transition that cascaded through runway like a unicorn dream. Hair and make up looks to complete Leanne Marshall’s ensembles provided by Aveda.

What many in attendance were calling Leanne Marshall’s breakout moment, each piece came to life with abstract three-dimensional ruffles placed upon gowns with the utmost creativity and splendor adorned décolletage, shoulders and waistlines. Pom-poms made by the designer’s team edged the seams of a few select pieces adding a fun and flirty accent to the otherwise sophisticated collection. With intricate cutout patterns, layers of ruched silks in crossover configurations adorned bodices atop stunning, sheer skirts. The designer played with the flowing fabrics by juxtaposing them with nude jelly flat sandals and flatforms that were hand embellished.

Leanne Marshall continued the exposed lingerie trend we often see on her catwalks. Guests saw an array of bralettes through strategically placed sheer panels. The designer used stones to embellish a layered harness in a feathered tangerine hue. Other firsts for Leanne Marshall this Spring Summer 2017 were gorgeous metal and beaded headbands and dainty jewelry pieces.

Leanne Marshall’s Spring Summer 2017 Runway drew a packed house. Celebrity attendees included Lauren Jauregui, Miss New York, Ameriie, Real Housewives of Dallas stars, Stephanie Hollman & Cary Deuber, Arden Cho, Shea Marie, Kamie Crawford, Lisa Ramos, Lilliana Vasquez, Madison Beer, Kimberly Garner and Holly Taylor of The Americans.
